Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice describes what Beaufort County Released Inmates receives when people browse, search, or send a message, how that information is used, and the limited situations in which it may be shared. It also explains cookies, outside services, security limits, and choices available to users. Using the site means accepting these data practices. Government records reached through links remain under the control of the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office, North Carolina courts, NCDAC, or the federal agency that created them.

Information You Submit

Search Terms

When you enter a name, location, or other detail in a search tool, the query is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. Beaufort County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider may collect and handle the query under its separate privacy terms, so review those terms before submitting sensitive details.

Messages You Send

An email or contact-form message may include your name, reply address, and anything you choose to write. We retain that material as needed to read the message, respond, and keep an ordinary record of the exchange. Contact submissions are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law, a valid legal order, or the protection of legal rights.

Technical Data and Cookies

Routine server, analytics, and advertising systems can record technical information when a page loads. This data helps the site function, reveals broad use patterns, and assists with troubleshooting. Depending on the service involved, the information may include:

  • Your Internet Protocol address.
  • Browser name and version.
  • Device category and operating system.
  • Pages viewed and time spent on them.
  • The referring website, when one is supplied.
  • Date and time stamps for requests.

Cookie Controls

Cookies are small files used to remember settings and understand how visitors use the site. Browser controls can refuse or delete them. Blocking cookies may change how a search tool, preference, analytics feature, or advertisement behaves, and some functions may not work as expected.

How Information Is Used

Collected information is used only for operating, measuring, and maintaining the service and for connecting a submitted search with the provider that handles it. Those purposes include:

  • Keeping pages available and responsive.
  • Routing search requests to the appropriate partner service.
  • Learning which Beaufort County record pages visitors find useful.
  • Detecting errors, misuse, and technical problems.
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect general interests.

Privacy on Linked Services

Links may lead to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office, the Beaufort County court system, North Carolina Department of Adult Correction resources, BOP or ICE tools, legal information, release records, and third-party search providers. Once you leave this site, the destination's privacy policy and technical practices govern. Beaufort County Released Inmates does not control how an outside service collects, retains, or shares information.

Government access to Beaufort County records is governed by applicable law, including the North Carolina Public Records Act in Chapter 132, not by this Privacy Notice. Advertising partners may also use cookies or similar tools on their own systems to recognize activity across websites and select interest-based ads.

Parties That May Receive Data

We do not sell personal information. Limited information may still reach service providers whose work is necessary to operate searches, measure traffic, or display advertising, and it may be disclosed when the law compels it. Possible recipients are:

  • Search partners that process submitted queries.
  • Analytics providers that measure site use.
  • Advertising networks serving or measuring ads.
  • Law enforcement or another government body acting under a valid legal order.

Reasonable Security Measures

We use ordinary administrative and technical safeguards suited to the information handled. No website, network, storage system, or electronic transmission can be guaranteed secure. Beaufort County Released Inmates cannot promise that unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or a breach will never occur. Avoid placing confidential details in a message when they are not needed for a response.

Use by Adults Only

The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly seek or collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a parent or legal guardian believes a minor submitted personal data, the adult may use the Contacts page to request review and deletion of information held by us.

Your Privacy Choices

Subject to applicable law and the ability to identify the information, a person may ask us to take the following actions concerning personal data held directly by Beaufort County Released Inmates:

  • Provide a copy of that personal information.
  • Correct information that is inaccurate.
  • Delete information when a valid erasure right applies.
  • Honor an available opt-out from certain processing.

These choices apply to data controlled by us. Requests concerning sheriff, court, NCDAC, BOP, ICE, or search-partner records must go to the organization that controls the record or service.
